Fabien Barbera

Fabien Barbera, formerly antiques dealer in the Carré Rive Gauche in Paris, created and launched his first decorative objects collection under the brand name BARBERA. It was a great opportunity for him to combine his two passions : gold leaf and scented candles.

Fabien Barbera is one of the last to use the "verre églomisé" process with its ancient techniques. This process was born in the antique times. Egyptian artisans already knew how to stick gold leaves inbetween two thin glass plaques.

In France, Jean-Baptiste Glomy (1711-1786), frames manufacturer for Louis XV then Louis XVI, was the first one to use again this forgotten process. His success was so big that he started giving his name to it.

Playing with gold leaf transparency, BARBERA provides a large range of églomisé candle holders and trays. Hand painted, they're all unique and designed after Fabien Barbera's drawings. The gold leaf wrinkles give an enigmatic look to those decorative pieces. They fit with any style, and perpetuate this french art.
